Brawlers Lose By a Run at Texas
|
Texas turned a good effort from starter Shigematsu Kokawa into a win over the B.C. Brawlers at The Cavern. The Renegades won the game, 3-2. Kokawa, now 4-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Getting the save was Fernando Méndez, his 21st.
The Renegades got a big at-bat from second baseman Andrés López. For the game, López was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Texas a 2-0 lead.
"Shigematsu throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Texas manager Todd Newcomer.
The last-place Brawlers have lost 4 straight games.
