Franco Earns 300th Save in Phoenix Win Over Growlers
|
It took just 1 innings of work for Reykjavik reliever John Franco to collect career save number 300. The 32-year-old hurler gave up no runs and no hits during his outing as the Phoenix toppled the Grand Rapids Growlers 5-3.
"The milestone weighs on your mind a bit, so I'm glad it's over," a relieved Franco said after the game. "I was tired of talking about it and I'm sure my teammates were tired of it, too."
Franco has collected 300 saves over his 500-game career with 1016 strikeouts and 189 walks, a won-lost record of 57-41 and a 1.68 ERA.
