The Texas Renegades picked up a win at The Ashes, knocking off the Phoenix Downs, 5-4. On the mound for Texas was right-hander Leland Hernández. He played a key role in the triumph. Hernández, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. With the win, the Renegades sit at 25-17.
Texas used a clutch at-bat from Domingo Chávez to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Renegades ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Texas manager Todd Newcomer called it "a good, solid win."
