With 5-2 Win, Mud Hens Go to 21-20
|
Great Black Swamp Mud Hens starter Fernando Valenzuela turned in a top-notch performance against the Wicker Park Devil Cats at Moses Fleetwood Walker Stadium. The result was a win for the Mud Hens, 5-2. Bahari Njete picked up the save, his 9th. Great Black Swamp has run its win streak to 5 consecutive.
Ronald Johnson had a big run-scoring triple for the Mud Hens in the bottom of the second inning. With Great Black Swamp leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Anthony McElroy, who is tied for 9th in the TTWB in innings pitched with 56.0, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mud Hens ahead, 2-0.
Mud Hens manager Casimir Koralewski raved about Valenzuela after the game. "I thought Fernando was 'lights out.'"
