Yard Cats Win, 5-1, at Dam Site
|
The Ypsi Yard Cats tallied a win at Superior Stadium, throttling the Dam Site Drifters, 5-1. Starting pitcher Aaron Clay was a big reason for his team's success. Clay, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The 5th-place Yard Cats hiked their record to 21-17.
The Yard Cats got a big at-bat from right fielder Dennis Smith. For the game, Smith went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 15th double of the season gave Ypsi a 1-0 lead.
"Aaron gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Ypsi skipper Patrick Holt.
