Reykjavik and Columbus took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Reykjavik Phoenix picked up a win at Ricardo Lopez Field, topping the Columbus Red Birds, 8-1. On the mound for Reykjavik was right-hander Javier López. He played a principal role in the triumph. López got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Reykjavik used the hitting of Charles Risberg to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Phoenix on top, 8-1. For the game, Risberg had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Javier gave us a huge shot in the arm," said Reykjavik manager Arthur Ecklund.
With the win, Reykjavik pushed its record to 19-15.
