Drifters Thwart Stalkers, 3-1

Dam Site starter Akahele Maninga put a stranglehold on the Iowa City offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Drifters to a 3-1 win. Maninga, now 1-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 11, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Julián Domínguez recorded the save, his 1st.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ezio Galante? The 24-year old center fielder Galante stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Dam Site up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Akahele approached every single pitch he made with total conviction," said Dam Site manager Andy Evans.
Dam Site goes to 20-12.
