Red Birds Edge Jabalies, 5-4
|
Ricardo Lopez Field played host to some high drama.
The Columbus Red Birds did just enough to sneak past the Madrid Jabalies, 5-4, at Ricardo Lopez Field. Columbus pitcher Vincent Stanley, in particular, had a standout performance. The Red Birds, now 22-9, have been on fire in the early going.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Columbus left fielder Jimmie López, facing Vinnie Stennings, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Red Birds the 5-4 win.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Madrid manager Tony Meyer. "The effort was great."
