Stalkers Take Nail-Biter Over Indians
Hayden Fry Field was the site of a true pitchers' duel.

The Stalkers faced a stiff challenge from Indianapolis pitcher Ernest Nance, but persevered to claim a win at Hayden Fry Field. The final score was 2-1. Nance went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Shoichi Saito snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Gary Lange suffered the loss.

Iowa City got a clutch hit from Derek Reid. The right fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Reid. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."

The win lifts Iowa City to a record of 8-8.
