Renegades Squelch Phoenix Offense in Shutout Win
|
Reykjavik had no answer for 25-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Torres. The Texas Renegades starter stymied Phoenix hitters, helping the Renegades cruise to victory, 6-0. Torres, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. The loss drops Reykjavik to 8-5.
Texas used a clutch at-bat from Jorge Torres to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Renegades ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I'm happy we won," said Torres. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
