The Newcastle House of Brews beat the Columbus Red Birds, 9-4, at Ricardo Lopez Field. The win was due in part to right fielder Albert Belle, who went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The setback makes the Red Birds 5-9.

Newcastle third baseman Gabriel Urbina contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 12th hit of the season and put the House of Brews ahead, 3-2.

Belle expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
