The Asheville Boomsticks faced a tough opponent in Great Black Swamp pitcher Suketsune Kimura, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Smasheville by a final score of 4-3. Kimura went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. John Mays, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The loss drops Great Black Swamp to 5-4.

The decisive blow was delivered by Stu Woodward in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a bases-clearing double off 11-year veteran Bahari Njete to win the game for Asheville. The home crowd went nuts.

Woodward called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
