Down to Defeat Goes Chicago, 6-5
|
The Milwaukee Brewers did just enough to sneak past the Chicago Cubs, 6-5, at Wrigley Field. Milwaukee left fielder Sal Frelick, in particular, had a standout performance. The win went to Quinn Priester in relief. His record improves to 6-6. José Soriano took the loss. Jordan Romano, credited with the save, is now 24 for 26 in save opportunities.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Fernando Tatis Jr.? The Milwaukee third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Brewers on top, 5-4. For the game, Tatis Jr. had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I believe in our guys," said Milwaukee skipper Brian Hostetler. "I like the energy they're playing with."
The Brewers lead the National League Central Division by 5 games.
