The Seattle Mariners got an exceptional performance from starter George Kirby, who silenced the Houston offense en route to a 6-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the Division Series. The Astros could never get a bead on the right-handed Kirby, who threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball. The Mariners now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 series.

Kirby gave Seattle a first-rate performance. The 6-foot-4 right-hander permitted no runs on 3 hits over 9 innings of work.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Kirby said.
