Philadelphia Downed, 3-2, by Marlins
|
Miami turned a good effort from starter Karson Milbrandt into a win over the Philadelphia Phillies at LoanDepot Park. The Marlins won the game, 3-2. James Karinchak notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record now sits at 5-0. Lance McCullers Jr. finished the game for Miami and earned his 9th save.
Jackson Merrill, who is tied for 9th in the NL in hits with 157, came through for Miami with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth. The center fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Philadelphia manager Rob Thomson.
The last-place Phillies have lost 4 straight games.
