Duluth Snaps Vargas Streak at 20 Wednesday, August 26th , 2122 Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 20-game hitting streak, Idaho center fielder Ángel Vargas went hitless in 5 at-bats at Pioneers Park. The sudden hitting drought came as the Pioneers snagged the 13-8 win over the Duluth Bulldogs. "Nope, it's not magic," Vargas said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits." Looking at his present stats, Vargas has compiled a .302 batting average in 117 games with a .383 on-base percentage, while hitting 22 home runs and driving in 82 runs. |
