Cole Spins Shutout Against Smash Tuesday, July 14th , 2122 The Bakersfield Tramplers shut out the Sherbrooke Smash, 4-0, behind the strong pitching of Eugene Cole. Cole surrendered only 5 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 6. Following the last out, Cole appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Sherbrooke manager , who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Cole's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart. The Smash skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Tramplers press conference, Cole confirmed that it was regarding the celebration. "He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Cole said. "And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Bakersfield manager added. To date this season, Cole has registered 5 starts, 3-2 won-lost mark, 4.85 ERA, 29.2 IP, 21 strikeouts and 15 walks. Opposing teams have hit .287 against him. View Boxscore |
