Dash End Rivera Streak
Saturday, May 19th , 2035
The Bowling Green Hot Rods lost to the Winston-Salem Dash, 4-3, at Truist Stadium, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Juan Rivera's 23-game hitting streak. The catcher went 0-for-1 on the day.
"We felt if we could slow down Rivera, we would win the game," Dash manager Hynek Capka explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down."
Rivera is currently hitting at a .308 pace with 4 home runs and 17 RBIs. He has played in 37 games and scored 23 times.
