Martin Belts Bunch of Base Hits
Friday, July 9th , 2038
The St. Louis (DSL) Cardinals Red stopped the Chicago A (DSL) White Sox by a score of 9-2 at Baseball City Complex, with the lion's share of the credit going to center fielder Greg Martin. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Martin said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Martin did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the White Sox.
"Not much that I can say," offered Chicago A (DSL) manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Greg Martin singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Ken Farrell in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
So far this year, Martin has 5 home runs and a .288 batting average.
