Tuesday, September 30th , 2036
After a 5-hit effort to lead Stanger's 7-6 victory over the Kutlwanong Phoenix, left fielder Wolde-Tsadik Magoma told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the South Africa Rookie Baseball-level is really something special."
The 22-year-old player earned his accolades at Thunder Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-8 game against the Phoenix.
"His swing is getting there," said Thunder skipper , who spoke glowingly of Magoma after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Wolde-Tsadik did that to perfection."
Wolde-Tsadik Magoma singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, singled in the 10th, singled in the 12th and grounded out in the 14th.
In 138 games this year, Magoma has posted a .248 average and put up these numbers: 8 home runs, 55 RBIs and 62 runs scored.
