Pinilla 5-for-8 for Phillies West Wednesday, August 22nd , 2040 Philadelphia W (GCL) second baseman Jose Pinilla had a big day at Charlotte Sports Park against the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays. The 21-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-8 and led to the 22-10 Phillies West triumph over Tampa Bay (GCL). "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Pinilla said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Jose Pinilla hit a solo-shot off Rogelio Maldonado in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, flied out in the 10th, hit an RBI double in the 12th and hit an RBI single in the 12th. Pinilla has a .359 average and a .426 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 60 hits, 8 home runs and driven in 40 runs. |
