Cavazos Blisters Greensboro Tuesday, August 30th , 2039 All game long, Hickory's Mario Cavazos was rattling the walls at L.P. Frans Stadium and banging out base hits against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 6-hit day and the Crawdads had a win, 22-0. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 24-year-old catcher said, "Get 6 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." Mario Cavazos singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Israel Pesqueira in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. This season, Cavazos is swinging the bat at a .370 rate with 126 hits in 341 at-bats. To date he has hit 19 home runs, scored 59 runs and driven in 69. |
