Couch Belts Bunch of Base Hits Thursday, August 13th , 2037 There was no storybook ending. Chris Couch of the Amarillo Sod Poodles socked it to the visiting Midland RockHounds with a terrific 5-hit game, but his team didn't get the win. The Sod Poodles fell, 24-14, at Hodgetown. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Couch complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Amarillo manager sympathized with his shortstop, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Chris played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Chris Couch singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th. So far this year, Couch is batting .329 with 2 home runs and 41 RBIs. |
