Cunningham Tosses No-No Against Lookouts Saturday, August 1st , 2037 Jeff Cunningham relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Chattanooga hitless in a win, 1-0, at Regions Field. "Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Lookouts off balance and guessing the whole game." The 19-year-old starter rung up 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in whipping the Lookouts. "When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Chattanooga skipper said. To this point in the season, Cunningham shows a 1-0 record, 5 starts, 31 innings, 14 strikeouts and a 2.03 ERA. |
