Great Stroke: Alvarado Gets 5 Hits Monday, June 21st , 2038 Getting 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day, so it was a special occasion for River Cats's Juan Alvarado at Smith's Ballpark. Alvarado put up a 5-for-5 line against the Salt Lake Bees, swinging the bat with authority all day despite his club's eventual 6-5 loss. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Alvarado said after the game. "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em. I had a great day, but it's disappointing to lose." Disappointed or not, he still gets his name in the record books. Juan Alvarado doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Phil Peles in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th. This season, Alvarado has hit 4 home runs and posted a .235 batting average. |
