Hughes at His Best, Whips Reds
Chris Hughes kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the New York Mets were all smiles after winning, 9-0, against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. The right-handed Hughes gave up no runs in his start, permitted 5 hits, and tallied 5 strikeouts.

"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Hughes said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."

On his stats sheet this season, Hughes shows a 3-1 record, 6 starts, 36.1 innings, 33 strikeouts and a 3.72 ERA.
