Boston Earns 5-4 Win
|
The Boston Red Sox knocked off the Los Angeles Angels, 5-4, at Fenway Park. Willie Hogeda was a big reason Boston won. The designated hitter was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Mike Carrillo, who finished 5th in the AL in innings pitched with 206.2 in 2033, earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. The Red Sox raised their record to 14-8.
Boston took a 5-4 lead on Chris Scott's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Scott hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher Jimmy Merritt visibly frustrated.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Los Angeles manager Angels Manager. "The effort was great."
