Cincinnati Earns 5-4 Win
|
Cincinnati beat San Francisco at Oracle Park, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Rob Schultz. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Cincinnati reliever Kevin Lemon picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Danny Calhoun was tagged with the loss. Josh Coughlin earned the save for Cincinnati, his 1st of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jesus Gonzales came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Danny Calhoun, he hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 3-2.
"It feels good to get this one," Schultz told the Cincinnati Today.
The loss lowers the San Francisco record to 1-2.
