The Kansas City Royals beat the Texas Rangers, 13-10, at Globe Life Field. The Royals got a fine performance from first baseman Fernando Tatis Jr., who was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever Dionathan Spore picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Greg Boyle took the loss. Texas, with the loss, is still a hardy 3-1.

Kansas City used the clutch hitting of Dan Samuell to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Royals the lead, 8-5. For the game, Samuell had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"We got the victory," said Samuell. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
