Giants Upend Diamondbacks, 4-3
|
San Francisco beat Arizona on the strength of starter Jose Corniell's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Jerry Eaves converted his 8th save in 9 tries. San Francisco, at 87-68, occupies first place in the National League West Division.
San Francisco used the clutch hitting of Jordan Mendez to snag the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Corniell called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
