Melendez Hits Two Dingers, Angels Win, 9-7
Good production from first baseman Angel Melendez helped the Los Angeles Angels topple the Minnesota Twins, 9-7. Melendez slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice for the Angels. Ben Klamm earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. Los Angeles improves to 97-65 with the win. They lead their division by 3 games.

In the top of the seventh, Melendez put his team in front with his 55th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which came against Zach Witte, made it 8-6, Los Angeles.

Melendez said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
