The Baltimore Orioles trumped the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-4, at Tropicana Field. Baltimore second baseman Phil Tennant was terrific. He went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Baltimore reliever Junior Santos was the winner. His record is now 4-6. Marvin Bautista took the loss. Ron Ashcroft recorded the save, making him 26 for 36.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Tennant delivered big-time for Baltimore, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Marvin Bautista. The game-changing hit put the Orioles on top, 5-3.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Tennant told the Baltimore Herald.
