Nationals Beaten By Cubs, 9-3
|
The Chicago Cubs pinned a convincing loss on the Washington Nationals, 9-3, at Nationals Park. Nico Hoerner was a main factor in the win. He went 4-5 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 times for Chicago. The winning pitcher was Bubba Chandler. He's now 4-8. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits for the Cubs. The Cubs sit in 5th place in the National League East Division with a record of 67-95.
Chicago used a clutch at-bat from C.J. Graham to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Graham.
