White Sox Suffer 8-3 Loss to Baltimore
|
Baltimore picked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, bumping off the Chicago White Sox, 8-3. Pitcher Curt David was a major reason the Orioles emerged victorious. David yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 10. His record improves to 16-6. With the win, Baltimore upped its record to 95-66.
Federico Mendoza had a big bases-clearing double for the Orioles in the bottom of the third inning. With Baltimore leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Tommy Spears, who finished 3rd in the AL in strikeouts with 219 in 2037, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Orioles ahead, 6-0.
Mendoza said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
