Cardinals Improve to 95-66 with 6-1 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-1, at Busch Stadium. Starting pitcher Ric Carnini was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winning pitcher was Carnini, now 15-5. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 10. St. Louis bumps their record to 95-66 with the win.
Gene Elmer, the St. Louis catcher, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 2-1, Cardinals. For the game, Elmer was 1-3 with a walk.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Carnini.
