Angels Get Past Houston for 3-2 Win
The home crowd had a good time watching the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels get after it.

The Los Angeles Angels, despite a fine performance by Houston pitcher Carson Kelly, grabbed a 3-2 win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Kelly allowed 2 runs over 6.1 innings. Willie Gonzales picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-2. Bill Fuentes was tagged with the loss. Jimmy Merritt earned his 24th save, after closing out the game.

The Angels got a big at-bat from third baseman Mark Smith. For the game, Smith was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 27th home run of the season gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Smith.

The defeat makes Houston 82-79.
