The St. Louis Cardinals weathered a fine game by Houston designated hitter Tommy Bixby to upend the Astros, 11-7, at Minute Maid Park. Bixby went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Josh Bronner came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The Cardinals have an impressive 109-50 record.

St. Louis used a clutch at-bat from Kurt Jones to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Jones.
