The inspired effort of Nashville second baseman Steve Gonzalez was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-7, to the Atlanta Braves. Gonzalez was 3-5 with a triple and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Yok-sing Law snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 6-4 on the season. The first-place Braves, at 98-61, now lead their division by 6½ games.

Atlanta used a timely hit from Dave Bolter to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Braves ahead, 8-7. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"This was a nice win for us," said Bolter. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
