Diamondbacks Suffer 6-4 Home Defeat
|
San Francisco and Arizona duked it out and the Giants came out victorious.
The San Francisco Giants picked up a win at Chase Field, topping the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4. On the mound for San Francisco was right-hander Tauren Shera. He played a principal role in the triumph. Shera yielded 4 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 13-13. The save went to Eric Irvin, his 34th this season.
San Francisco used a well-timed hit by Jose Barragan to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Giants ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Barragan told the San Francisco Daily.
The Giants sit in third place in the National League West Division with a record of 73-85.
