5-2 Loss Deepens Kansas City Funk
|
Minnesota pitcher Omar Alcala had a large part in his team subduing the Kansas City Royals, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Alcala yielded 2 runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 6, and struck out 4. His record improves to 6-6. Kansas City, at 75-84, has lost 6 straight.
Alex Castrillo had a big run-scoring double for the Twins in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a circle change from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Alex Alvarado and swatted a double to left. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 2-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Castrillo said after the game.
