Astros Rebuff Cardinals, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Phil Hunt gave the Houston Astros a rock-solid effort. The Lewisville, Texas native helped his team defeat the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2, at Minute Maid Park. Hunt, now 7-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The win elevated the Astros to 81-76.
Early in the game, right fielder Nate Micari had a 2-run home run for Houston. It was his 35th home run of the season and put the Astros on top, 2-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Houston manager Houston Manager.
