Nationals Get 9-3 Win Versus Cincinnati
|
The Washington Nationals saddled the Cincinnati Reds with a loss at Nationals Park. The final score was 9-3. Bobby Cabrera was 2 for 4, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Washington first baseman scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Picking up the win was Ricky Castro. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 7 and walked 0. Their 79-77 record puts the Nationals 6th in the National League East Division.
T.J. Borders had a big 2-run double for the Nationals in the bottom of the third inning. With Washington leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Jeff Norris, who finished 2nd in the NL in innings pitched with 214.0 in 2029, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nationals ahead, 4-0.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Cabrera.
