Loggers Drop Astros, 4-3
|
The Portland Loggers locked up a win at Columbia Sportswear Stadium, knocking off the Houston Astros, 4-3. On the mound for Portland was right-hander Chris Ennis. He played a major role in the triumph. Ennis yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 9-16. Phil Parker picked up his 2nd save of the season.
Octávio Baeta had a big 2-run home run for the Loggers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Portland leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Albright and punished it. The result was his 36th home run of the season, which put the Loggers on top, 4-1.
Baeta called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
With the win, Portland goes to 67-88, while the Astros fall to 79-76.
