Cubs Pull Out Late-Game Win, 2-1
The Chicago Cubs downed the Cincinnati Reds, 2-1, at Wrigley Field. Stellar pitching by Joe Brewer had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Chicago pitcher Franklin Lantigua earned the win, hiking his record to 5-3. Doug Caputo suffered the loss. The Chicago win streak is now 4 games.

The decisive blow was delivered by Brad Carroll in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 28-year old left-handed pitcher Doug Caputo to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.

"Joe was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Chicago manager Cubs Manager.
