Seattle 4-3 Victors at Guaranteed Rate Field
|
The Seattle Mariners topped the Chicago White Sox, 4-3, in American League action at Guaranteed Rate Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Seattle pitcher Eric Vanderwege. Seattle reliever Chris Hayse was the winner. His record is now 4-6. Danny Calhoun took the loss. The setback makes Chicago 71-81.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Greg Kessler? The 24-year old second baseman Kessler stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put Seattle up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Eric was commanding his pitches," said Seattle manager Austin D.
