Stars Win Nail-Biter, 6-5
|
St. Louis center fielder Andy Beran was sensational. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Nashville beat the Cardinals, 6-5, in 12 innings. Jorge Silva, now 5-1, was credited with the win in 0.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. The Stars win now puts them at 62-89.
The Stars Yard crowd went wild in the bottom of the eighth when Arturo Lopez, who is tied for 5th in the NL in doubles with 44, won the game for Nashville with a run-scoring walk. Lopez was 2-5 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI in the contest.
Lopez told reporters after the game: "Took some doing, but we got it done."
