Rangers Prevail, 2-1, Over New York
|
The Texas Rangers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Greg Boyle, who kept New York hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Rangers win at Yankee Stadium. Chris Simington, who finished 2nd in the AL in saves with 31 last year, nailed down the save. The Rangers improved their record to 83-68 by beating New York.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Yoshiaki Matsumura? The 27-year old shortstop Matsumura stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Texas up, 1-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Boyle.
