Twins Get Clutch Win Versus Baltimore
|
Starting pitcher Jose Grateron pitched well enough to help the Minnesota Twins beat the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4. The first-place Twins, at 80-70, now lead their division by 4½ games.
Minnesota took a 5-2 lead on Phil Sondergaard's 33rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Sondergaard hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Baltimore pitcher Dave O'Shields visibly frustrated.
"I'm happy we won," said Grateron. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
