In a low-scoring contest between the Atlanta Braves and the Colorado Rockies, Jeff Stelly, who is tied for 8th in the NL in quality starts with 16, proved to be the difference. The Atlanta right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Braves win. The winner was Stelly. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Dan Collier. The save went to Yok-sing Law, number 31 for him.
Wally Chastine, who finished 4th in the NL in extra base hits with 86 in 2035, had a direct impact on the outcome. Chastine contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Atlanta up, 2-0.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Chastine.
