Padres Fall, 8-4, to Saucedo, Astros
|
Edwin Saucedo helped his team muscle past the San Diego Padres, 8-4. In the game, the Houston second baseman was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Carson Kelly converted his 2nd save in 2 tries. The win for the Astros raised their record to 73-71.
The Padres had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Astros going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old third baseman Joe Jacobson came to the plate. Jacobson hit a 2-run double on a first pitch fastball from San Diego hurler Oscar Lange. It was Jacobson's 10th double of the year.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Jacobson told the Houston Daily.
